Description
Nike’s Wilson Smith-designed b-ball sneaker got featured in a mainstream Hollywood movie in 1997. That movie was George of the Jungle starring Brendan Fraser and that sneaker was the Air More Uptempo. This b-ball silhouette, more than any other from the brand, captures the big, bold ‘90s style.
This Air More Uptempo is highlighted by oversized, graffiti-like “AIR” badges in coconut milk tumbled leather outlined with tan. The upper is coconut-coloured canvas, matching the laces, tongues and embroidered mini Swooshes on the toe box. Cut-out Swooshes on the heel spines reveal tan underlays. Elastic straps across the tongues make it possible to wear the shoes laced or unlaced.
Underfoot, however, the pair’s molded midsole comes lightened through a hint of “Sail” before a be-speckled all-brown tread brings a warm conclusion to the earthy ensemble.
